Description
In a world rife with information overload and nonstop negative media, how do we champion human connection as a beacon of hope and possibility? Ivan Cash’s keynote inspires audiences to do just that, sharing case studies from his acclaimed creative social experiments that connect and engage worldwide audiences in unique and powerful ways. Audience members will leave feeling energized with simple anecdotes to discover new ways to celebrate and foster human connection in their own lives.

Allotted Time

30 minutes plus 15 minutes of Q&A, but can be custom-tailored to most time frames.

WORKSHOP

We have a core number of workshop offerings that are customizable based on our hosts’ needs. Below are a few of the activities / prompts that are conduced within a given The Art of Human Connection workshop:

  • UNDER ONE SKY (45 min)
    A collaborative art project reminding us of our common ground and shared humanity through the simple prompt of connecting and looking up at the sky together. Through our individual connection we can build a collective perspective.

  • STRANGERS DRAWING STRANGERS (30 min)
    Inspired by Selfless Portraits, pairing participants together who don’t know each other, and having them draw portraits of one another.

  • TALLEST TOWER (20 min)
    What happens when we build the tallest structure out of phones?

  • PHONE MEDITATION (15 min)
    Inviting participants to reimagine their relationship with their phone by feeling into their bodies.

  • LETTER TO A STRANGER (15 min)
    Inspired by Snail Mail My Email, participants are invited to create a write a letter to someone they don’t know.

  • CREATIVE IDEATION (One or Multiple Days)
    Jam session to unlock creative ideas and strategies focused around a specific goal.

Ivan Cash is a Forbes 30 Under 30 artist and filmmaker whose work focuses on igniting human connection in an increasingly divided and isolated world. From recruiting 2,000 volunteers to handwrite and send 30,000 emails to connecting 50,000 strangers from 75 countries to draw each other, his work highlights our shared humanity.

He has presented his work at SXSW, Sundance, TEDx, The New York Times, and Stanford University. His work has received over 100 million online views, received five Vimeo Staff Picks, multiple Webby Honorees, and a Fast Company World Changing Ideas award. His work has also been collected by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, commissioned by Netflix, MTV, and Airbnb Studios, and distributed by Vice, The Atlantic, and Nowness. He has been recognized as an Adweek Creative 100, Art Directors Club Young Gun, and Print New Visual Artist.

ISIS KRAUSE
EXPERIENCE DESIGN

Isis Krause is a facilitator, strategist, and experience designer who has led hundreds of strategy and engagement workshops and large-scale convenings with hundreds of participants. She has architected or scaled social impact organizations including Philanthropy Together, The Genuine, Donors of Color Network, Purpose School at The American College of Financial Services, Freedom School, Amplifier, Civic Spirit, and many more.

She is passionate about the transformative power of bringing people together and how to move people to act for impact, and the outcomes of her work have been profiled in The New York Times, Forbes, and The Chronicle of Philanthropy. Collectively Isis’ clients are contributing to the movement of more than a billion dollars toward justice and social impact globally. Isis is a UCLA and Le Cordon Bleu alumna, lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two babes under 5, and always seems to have a loaf of bread rising somewhere in the house—much to her family’s delight!

CARLA FERNANDEZ
EXPERIENCE DESIGNER

Carla Fernandez is an experience designer, facilitator and community strategist. She focuses on projects that bring creativity, joy and connection to the roots of our most intractable problems.

She has experience working foundations, government agencies at local and federal levels, coalitions and brands, united by their drive to repair or restore a part of their industry or community.

She is co-founder of The Dinner Party, the world’s first nonprofit dedicated to solving the crisis of isolation at our most universal intervention point - grief and loss, for people in their 20-40s. The Dinner Party is now active in nearly 100 cities and featured in New York Times, NPR, and Good Morning America.
